Anadolu University Vocational School of Transportation

Eskişehir Academy of Economic and Commercial Sciences, founded in 1958, constituted the cornerstone of Anadolu University. The Academy was replaced by Anadolu University in 1982, which has gained a well-deserved place as a modern, dynamic and innovative institution among the largest universities not only in Turkey but also in the world. Some of the faculties and schools, as well as the majority of administrative units and social facilities, are at Yunusemre Campus, which is located at the center of Eskişehir, renowned as a center of science and culture and a city of youth. İki Eylül Campus, which houses the School of Physical Education and Sports, the Faculty of Aeronautics and Astronautics and the Faculty of Engineering, is five kilometers to the city center. Anadolu Airport is situated on this campus. The Porsuk Vocational School offers education in its own building in the city center.

Anadolu University is an institution, promoting universal higher education values and innovation in the Turkish higher education with its 17 faculties (3 of which offer distance education), 4 applied schools, 4 vocational schools, 9 graduate schools, 30 research centers, and 15 research, development and application units. The successful launch of the distance education system ranks at the top of innovative initiatives of Anadolu University. Today the total number of students in three faculties offering distance education is over two million.

The education in associate degree programs related to transportation previously situated at Anadolu University Porsuk Vocational School, “Railroad Electrical and Electronics Technologies”, “Railroad Machine Technology”, “Railroad Transportation Management”, “Railroad Construction” and “Transportation and Traffic Services” started in 2001-2002 academic year, “Rail Transport Mechanic Training” and “Logistic Programs” started in 2009-2010 academic year and “Civil Aviation and Cabin Services” and “Aircraft Technology Programs” started in 2010-2011 academic year. TRANSPORTATION VOCATIONAL SCHOOL was established in 2012 to carry out education and training activities focused on Railroad technologies. Today, it continues to provide education and training services having a total of 10 programs including “Railroad Electrical and Electronics Technologies”, “Railroad Transportation Management Program”, “Railroad Machine Technology Program”, “Rail Transport Mechanic Training Program”, “Railroad Construction Program”, “Aircraft Technology Program”, Transportation and Traffic Services Program”, “Civil Aviation and Cabin Services Program”, “Logistics Program” and “Air Traffic Control Program” with 30 academic staff professional in their fields.

    Prof. Dr. Ömer Mete Koçkar

    He graduated from Anadolu University, Department of Chemical Engineering in 1980. He was the director of Porsuk Vocational School of the same university between 2001-2012 and has been working as the director of Transportation Vocational School from this date. He carried out many projects about railway systems in Turkey and had advanced practice on different branches of transportation technologies.

    Lecturer Dr. Mehmet Mete Öztürk

    He graduated from the mechanical engineering department at Dokuz Eylül University, in 2001. He received MSc and Ph.D. degrees from Eskişehir Osmangazi University in 2003 and 2009, respectively. He earned his second Ph.D. degree from the University of Arkansas at little Rock.

    Asst. Prof. Dr. Zeynep Gültekin

    She graduated from Anadolu University Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Department of Business Administration in 2001. She received her master’s degree in 2004 and the Ph.D. degree in 2011 with the theses which are entitled ‘Reengineering in Transportation Businesses and a Suggested Model for TCDD’ and ‘Cross-Cultural Diversity Management in Multinational Project Teams and Marmaray Project Case’ respectively. She participated many workshops about the development of railway system programs and modules under the scope of METEK project.

    She graduated from Gazi University, Department of Economics in 1985. She commenced the doctoral degree in 2003 with a thesis which is entitled ‘Importance of Rail Transport in Transportation Area regarding Turkish Economy and Analysis of Turkish Railway Freight Transport Demand with the Econometric Model’. She has been working as the assistant director of Anadolu University Transportation Vocational School since 2012.

    She graduated from Istanbul University, Department of Industrial Engineering in 2008. She received her master’s degree at Istanbul Technical University, Department of Management Engineering in 2011. She is continuing her Ph.D. studies at the same department.
